    i agree with 48, it all depends on the company and how it is set up. The ECM can count % idle fuel used and % idle time, if i remember correct the ECM does the % time based against a "Key on Engine on" time.

    [TABLE="width: 640"]
    [TR]
    [TD="colspan: 10"]24 hours in a day 60 mintues in an hour = 1440 mintues in a day
    3% of that is 43 mintues and 12 seconds

    i dont have apu or bunk heater..our new trucks has them,,,apu...i used to work for knight transportation and they had bunk heaters, well, when i use it for 10 straight hours, it drains my battery and i could not start my truck in the morning..the shop told me you can only use those bunk heaters for 4 hours and idle the truck afterwards

    Idling is in the eye of the beholder.

    Except that most companies view % idle time as the number of idle hours divided by the total engine hours. So if your truck is rolling for 10 hours, or 600 minutes then they would allow you to idle a whopping 18 minutes!

    I actually went a whole month at a company that had Idle rules shouting the truck down as soon as I stopped the truck. But with the system that charges you for idle time when ever the truck stopped at lights traffic etc.. I was only able to get it down to around 2-3% for the week. I also do not take a lot of breaks during the day so if your company want you to do 3%. They are basically telling you to not idle period when parked

    I took a temp job at a common carrier, their policy was 6% which was derived from total key time per the ECM. I was at 6% all the time by shutting the truck off almost the minute it stopped. Q.C. also tattletales if you allow more than 3 mn warm up or cool down.

    These numbers are all set and watched by the carrier himself. You can click the performance tab on the menu and see where your at if allowed.

    The mechanics were idiots. I can run my bunk heater for for an entire day and truck would still start.

    How are they tracking idle %?
    Guessing Qualcomm not ECM?

    Find the Fuse tied to QC and pull it out.
