I never used it for fm off a repeater, I cant answer that well enough for you. sorry but it was suposed to do everything.
Narrow Band is the kicker. If it won't do that, It'll be worthless very soon. That's my problem now, my radios won't do narrow band. I think I've decide to just go with two seperate radios to solve my problem.
Going with two radio is probably your only legal option.Even if you could use the the Icom 706 with narrow band it wouldn't be legal for business or cb radio. The 706 will not be worthless for amateur radio or as a illegal CB as narrow banding does not for amateur radio or CB.
LOTSA 11/10mtr. sets will scan! Even the Cobra 18 will scan the cb band. The cherokee cm-10+ has 15 bands of 40 channels all on strait AM. Problem is they don't make em anymore & since they use a surface mount pc board, can't be fixed by yer local cb guy, even if he knew what he was doing, & could get the parts....which he probably doesnt,,,& can't. Pay the money & buy the right radio would be my advice.
