In IL currently you must pay 50 dollars and take a vision test to obtain a CDL permit no drug test or physical is required until you go to get the actual CDL.

in nd, no medical card or drug test required to get the permit, med card required to take your cdl road test. dot drug test required to start a job

When I got my permit this past summer I didnt even take a vision test. Maybe it had something to do with the last time I did one for my Class D?
