The biggest kind. One DC for sure. If your in Maine area you might see a few Prime trucks with their trailers.

Word is a few more DCs on the Horizon.

According to one driver (regular OTR driver)... who subbed in to haul a regional that they originally loaded with 47000 lbs reefer load. I guess they forgot to check if it was one of the lightweight trucks with a lightweight trailer. He said there are already lightweight petes parked on site, and he's seen one with rolling out with their trailer.

I guess we fully take over early April. Rumor that we are hiring 35 of the drivers currently on the contract... 50 trucks reqd. so maybe a few less OTR deadhead miles when going up there for bottled water or french fries.

Gotcha. That is cool then. I am guessing the one up in lewiston. Like you said, gives more options up in that neck of the woods. I never got that water load there but the few times I did get to maine, it was a long deadhead up to that joint in easton. Got arby's curly fries once and subway hash browns the other time.

I did it.... Pain in the butt... I will remember as it was xmas eve/xmas day.

Had to swap out a freshly washed out trailer, for a light weight, which I had to washout from Haverhill... Funny watching a dry van driver complaining to the shipper about the load being too heavy... Their response was, "contract says "x" amount of weight, nothing we can do about it."

I got to discover the only time to cross the GW during daylight hours without any traffic is Christmas Day... Fortunatly got to drop the load at the drop yard in Bensalem... and move on to something else.

Too many details I should remember, but the defining moment that reminds me of the whole ordeal is the load before that one. I repowered a Hazmat load from PA to MA... where Recieving stayed late after I sat in 3 hour traffic on the eve of Christmas Eve and I complained about no benifit to Company drivers with Hazmat loads. Right after that they announced an extra $50 per Hazmat load. Im not saying... but I am... hahaha...

I find when I get up to the NE, I end up bouncing around in and out for a 2 or 3 loads, and then Im out of there for a couple months... havent been back yet.

Ive done the french fry load out of Easton 4 or 5 times. Ive had to Dead Head every time from MA or lower except the last time. It was a load of cardboard packaging to the fry plant I picked up from on my next load.

You have to realize, we got that account when we bought TRL, and both times I did that load was right after. TRL always sent their dry vans in there to pick up, and I was doing it with a Prime reefer each time, and there is no scale anywhere close by at all.

Well it was in the 45k range... Totally within the realm of possibility on my truck, especially so with a lightweight trailer... question was where the weight was distributed.

Yeah, I think its 30-50 miles to the nearest scale.

Unless I'm coming south across the GWB, I just plain avoid the Cross Bronx and NYC - the traffic is a pain except in the wee hours. D-man doesn't have a problem with us diverting up to the Tappan Zee, then taking the 684 north up to 84 and going through Danbridge to get up into MA. Dr. Z turned me on to that one - its only 20 miles longer, but can be hours shorter depending on the traffic.

What does any of this have to do with running Canada? lol

Anyway in an attempt to re-rail the topic thread, my main concern is I have heard from other guys who have a permit to carry a gun in their home states that the Canadian border goons see this when they run their ID's and will proceed to disassemble their freaking trucks practically.

I would never carry a gun across the Canadian border, and I really don't want to deal with the harassment. I'm certainly not going to surrender my permits.

By the way, we have been into Canada twice now in the last week... 5 hour inspection hassle from our not very friendly (obnoxious and rude) U.S. Customs and Border Patrol guys last time on the way back in... good times... :biggrin_25521:
