CANADA made it mandatory for Canadians travelling to the USA ( phased in ) at the request of the US HOMELAND SECURITY .

Ortiginally was only for air travel now everyone

The TWIC is mandatory at Prime... do you have to have a passport card to get the TWIC? I think so... not sure. If so, then I guess that would be the answer. If not, then I don't know why.

I may be wrong, .... but getting a passport and being able to drive a cmv in Canada are not the same thing.

I think I can get a passport with a 25 yr old dui, but i dont think i can drive a CMV in Canada....
like i said, i may be wrong here.

So if I am only required (by Prime) to have a passport to be hired, that is different from "able to drive a cmv in Canada". does that sound right?:biggrin_25523:

    jtrnr1951 Thanks this.

Passport and TWIC are 2 different things, neither affects the other. As far as Passports and Canada, it is required that you have a passport to cross an international boundary as an American. Prime runs Canada, and due to that, they require passports of all their drivers. You can be ineligible for entry into Canada, and still receive a US Passport.

There's a process that involves a lot of paperwork, and plenty of money. I think the big thing with the Canadians is fleecing Americans...

Presently, the answer is no. And if I know our security department, the future answer is no as well - at least until Mexico gets their country under control!
