No.
The loads are heavy which makes it safer.
The freight doesn't slow down as bad during the winter.
Sometimes you get free st0f.
Extra points for fueling the reefer.
The reefer is a good excuse to get a shower credit.
The running reefer helps me sleep.
I love the live loads because I'm not chasing an empty and I use that time to relax and trip plan.
Those are some of the pros. I won't mention the ladies who love reefer drivers.
Does Pulling a Refer Really suck that bad?

I'd hate sitting in line for hours waiting for a trailer washout
NavigatorWife, passingthru69 and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
The reefer and freight isn't a problem. The problem is the grocery warehouses, meat packing plants, produce markets and barns. Expect lots of time waiting to be loaded and then at 8 pm after being there 12 hours having to run all night without time to stop and pee to make your delivery. If you don't mind the waiting around and living on a different sleep schedule nearly every day its not bad.

When I worked for SRT, I'd go to H-E-B in San Antonio. This has to be one of the most cruel & unusual places in trucking. They let like 200 trucks in at once. So the longer it takes the 132 trucks in front of you to dock, the longer it takes just to get to your door.
Don't think I ever got out of there in under 6 hours.
Was there once for like 16 hours. Missed reload, spent the weekend at Petro. Only gleaned like $125 out of the company for the whole ordeal.
There are giant warehouses in and around Bethlehem, PA that were the same. Dispatch wouldn't have an appointment, and I'd spend all weekend there, then get worked in Monday. Chicago you jacked around too, I remember that from CRE.NavigatorWife and Toomanybikes Thank this. -
More stupid questions: 1. Are you on the clock while waiting....does it affect how long you can drive or can you consider it sleep time?
2. It seems like drivers hate driving at night.....why is that? I love driving at night in my car, but I'm assuming its the nature of the vehicle lolNavigatorWife Thanks this. -
Do you really want me to get started on what night drivers must tolerate, so that the rest of the world can have food?NavigatorWife and passingthru69 Thank this. -
I have to log a minimum of 30 minutes (company policy) . Or you can log it all on duty,
.
I hate driving at night as I'm a magnet for scaredycats, I'll come up behind them running 50 mph on an interstate, and as soon as they see I'm in a 62 mph truck, they speed up and stop me from passing, ugh.Last edited: Jul 25, 2016
