New policy just announced:
Event recorders are going in all trucks. They only record if an event triggers them. An event could be hard braking, following too close, speeding, etc. If triggered, it records the previous 10 seconds and the following 10 seconds. Video and audio. And the camera is front facing and driver facing. All new drivers will have them and all trucks will have them within the next year.sideloader Thanks this. -
They are absolutely going in all trucks I have one in mine, they record audio as well. Calling them event recorders is kinda sneaky they go off really easily like every time you touch or cross the lane markers going through a construction zone. It's also very distracting because your constantly looking up at it to see if it just got tripped.
I really hate it, it's like trying to work in a high pressure situation with added pressure of someone leaning over your shoulder except they are not, they are right there in front of your face.
I believe if you do not have a dash cam to protect yourself your a fool, but driver facing cameras with audio as well no.sideloader Thanks this. -
I wonder how many good drivers would quit over this

Ive been with Roehl for 8 years. As soon as a driver facing camera is put in the truck I drive, I quit. Too many better paying companies out there to have to put up with another layer of micro mgt.
Zangief Thanks this. -
Was going to with Roehl but screw that. Invasion of privacy and micro managing with face cameras and audio is just crazy. Next thing you know, they will be monitoring your blood pressure and #### like that. No thanks Roehl.

I personally dont like cameras in my face but really most jobs people have cameras on them all day. If people in the office want to look at my ugly mug all day have fun! Maybe they will catch me with a big hanger in my nose to make it more interesting.

I am a new CDL driver with no experience. I am trying to get hired with Roehl is this a good company

it's good, given that they will definitely put a camera in a new driver's truck, to protect your and theirs interest
