I know that they still fire people for being on their phones, but what about making you turns?

You turn, I turn, we all do...

    Just never a u-turn.
There might be times that you get away with it, but the first time could also be the last.

I did a u-turn in the middle of the road because I didn't want to keep driving to find a lot to turn around in. This was my first time ever doing one in 10 years. Never even had an accident

The crazy thing about it is that I do u-turns all the time at shipping yards and warehouses where u turns are permitted and the smart drive never comes on. I went extremely slow doing this you turn not to trigger the camera and not only did it trigger it, but both lights turn blue. I don't even understand how that's possible.

Anyways, I guess I'll find out within a day if I'll be fired.

Maybe the camera can tell the difference between a road and a parking lot? Or, it cross references with GPS data? Anything flagged can then be reviewed by a human to see if it requires a trip to safety.

If you do a U-turn, slowly or quickly in a continuous movement, it will get noticed because it is obvious.

The thing about U-turns is, they are dangerous.
You didn't want to keep driving to find a safe place to turn around, or to find an alternate route.
How have you avoided U-turns for the past 10 years and not this time?

Oh, with all those 'no left turns so you have to do a U-turn half a block away'?
Those are legal and mandated, and the Smart Drive has no problem with them.
They are more like a double 90. Get into the left turn lane to the 90 degree position and stop. When it is clear you make another 90 degree to complete the turn around.

If you do it enough possibly, I got dinged for a u-turn didn’t get fired mind you it was a police directed u-turn and I was bobtail still got hit on the smart drive for it, there are some places where u-turns is unavoidable, a certain bass pro shop comes to mind when leaving there are only right hand turns unless you make a u-turn to get to a light so you can make the only left in the area to get back to the interstate.
