Most megas will fire you for making a U-turn as it's a violation of company policy.. Try to avoid them unless it's an emergency... having said that, I've made my fair share in my career, never caught.. just recently dealing with cameras though.. so I'm a good boy.. I never made a stupid U-turn though..You know we've got drivers misjudging the distance it takes to make a U-turn in under 10 seconds... Instead they get stuck on the highways and cause fatality accidents...
Does Swift still fire you for doing u-turns?

That's it right there in MI.
I have made many of those and never been dinged. It is the only way to make a left turn, clearly marked and legal. They even give room for the big trucks.
There was one time that I made a u-turn on a regular highway when I missed my turn.
Two lanes on either side, no traffic in either direction.
I pulled to the right shoulder to think about the situation because I could not go much further on that road.
As I said, no traffic in either direction. So I made a 90 degree to the left and came to a complete stop for a couple seconds in the middle, then proceeded with the final 90 degree left to complete the u-turn.
Maybe a double 90 with a complete stop does not count as a continuous 180 u-turn?
I was afraid of the outcome when I did it but nothing was ever said about it. I have not had to repeat it since, so I don't know if that is a loophole in the system.
There was the dashcam, but I don't remember if it was when we had the drivercam.Lonesome Thanks this. -
Same same. Flying J in Anthony, TX is burnt down and they fenced off the entrance...not even allowing trucks a chance to pull in and turn around. So I had to get into the neighborhood road...I pulled off on the sand and did a few forward/backs forward/backs to angle the truck and trailer into an L (90⁰). I waited for no cars then made a left turn back towards the highway. See pics.
But my DM just called me this morning saying that safety caught me parking on the side of the road twice this last week. I told my DM I really don't like parking on the shoulder, so I can't imagine when I would have done so...so apparently they do have some sort of way of finding out when u-turns are and when parking on the shoulder happens... Perhaps it's geolocation and current traffic reports. Because, what if I'm in gridlock traffic for 2 minutes, and no one is moving? Is that gonna ding me as parking on the shoulder?
Anyway, I have Life360 app so my family can see my whereabouts. I was able to pinpoint the time and place on Life360 app where my DM said I pulled onto shoulder and I let her know the 1st spot was a rest area...not a shoulder. The 2nd spot was a shoulder and it was an emergency. I had a blown tire.
