Why do they need camera watchers to do it when AI can do it for them? As it advances, AI will be able to audit even more, even better, and even more Big Brother. AI can then go through and data mine, take out whatever researchers are looking for, and it's now at the 3rd party hands to do whatever they like with all that data. Why would you want to subject yourself to all that, open the door to more AI technology? All because of ignorance?? You should think outside the box more because they are. This ain't Kansas anymore driver.

No but what is interesting is that they do offer fuel saving bonuses. I don't know what it all involves, and I am told they are easy to hit those bonuses, but it must be a fine line without APU's.

    You betcha they do.

Once, in my early years with Swift, I was written up for my idle time.
    An official reprimand.
They didn't even tell me about it at the time. I found out about it about a year later.
I have always had high idle times it seems. Still do. I am often top of the list. Don't care.

In my current truck I am exempt from it because the truck does not have a bunk heater. Parts shortage so they can't install one.
Ordering a new truck in MN without a bunk heater? Who does that?

Since the new bonus program went into effect fuel mileage is a factor. So my idle times usually mean a lower bonus each month.
Still don't care. I idle as needed, when possible with the temp restrictions.

Shouldn’t you be exempt from the idle hit on your bonus until such time that you get a bunk heater?

Schneider has had problems getting new trucks in with bunk heaters as well. I don’t think it’s an issue of them just not ordering it. I believe they’re going back and installing as they can get them. The ‘23 Freightliner I got a few weeks ago fortunately had one, however it has other problems. I’m currently in a hotel in Kansas while the truck is at Freightliner for an electrical issue.

One would think so, but sadly no.

Mind you, I have not even asked about it.
Not really that big of a deal to me. Remember the 'Still don't care' part?

I am doing this job, still, because I like doing this job. And I like doing it where I am.
I like the people I work with and, in general, the conditions I work under.
There is no need for me to demand anything that might get me another hundred or so bucks a month when I am doing something satisfying in its own right.
Not worth the time and effort on anyone's part.

I know, it is parts not being available. That whole Covid thing?

Mine is also a '23 Cascadia.
The main problem I have had with mine is an issue with with the cylinder bridge. A couple have broken. No electrical problems.
At the last repair they upped my idle to 875 RPM to keep the upper area better lubricated.

I get your position. Finding the right fit isn’t something that necessarily comes easy. But that is cold of them on the bonus, or so it seems. Maybe no one on the ground can override that, or it may be too difficult from an accounting position for a one off to make it practical

Yes. Like I said it is not worth the time and effort on either side.
That little amount of money will not make or break me, so why worry about it?

    nredfor88 Thanks this.
