Did you know the number of fatality wrecks due to apnea currently sits at exactly zero? There are a couple that apnea might have caused the wreck....

So with such numbers what's more likely? That apnea is a scam or that every single driver is treated successfully?

I agree that its a scam. Theyre finding problems where non existed before and making alot of money off the 'problems'they find. These people dont give two hoots about the driver. Same when oxycontin came on the market and doctors across the country were incentivized to write prescriptions for it. It requires a thoughtful and aware individual to push back against it, tho. We cant let these so called medical professionals run rough shod over us.

I don’t have a personal physician. If I did they would probably refer me to a I specialist, such as the one who sold my Insurance company the machine(and me $390 out of pocket). The doctor prescribing the treatment should prescribe the whole thing, not the only part they make money on. I’m not sure what I’m missing here.

A DME company sells the machine. A doctor prescribes the use. Of course you are allowed your opinion. But in my opinion. Every doctor would have to be in on the scam. For me that's a little far fetched. Plus if those doctors were getting kick backs from the DME company. They would have caught that by now.

The doctor that prescribes the use of of the machine is the doctor at the sleep clinic, not your personal physician. (At least in every case I've ever seen).
And they might not receiving kickback directly, but if they stop prescribing the machines then they will put themselves out of business....

A large company that has a DOT clinic onsite has to find a way to recover the costs.
I know of one that pushes it's employee's to have the CNPA to be the driver's personal physician.
    Talk about having complete control.

If a driver is forced to do a sleep study and the doc says you need a cpap, does that spell trouble for trying to get a med cert in the future??

    It can cause problems, yes.
If you've been prescribed a cpap but don't use it, well that's a medical condition that the dot dr can use to deny a card.
And no driver is ever "forced". If a dot dr recommends a sleep study just go to one that doesn't.

Screw their BMI BS. Muscle weighs 1 1/2 times what fat does. It’s a flawed way of gauging whether someone needs a sleep study or not. Almost every single professional athlete in both baseball and football, you know some of the healthiest people on earth? Their BMI would require them to be tested based on this logic.

If you wake up choking and gagging and gasping for air all night, you probably need a CPAP. You don’t need some $2000 freaking rip off sleep study. Turn the record app on, that’s on basically every cell phone and fall asleep for a couple nights and then scan through it and listen to it the next day. If you hear yourself choking and gasping for air, you have sleep apnea.
