Okay so I called a local CB shop in Ontario California you know nothing about electronic stores installation so I told the gentleman I need a CB installed would like to buy used Cb and I need everything else and all that stuff. I have a 2010 freightliner it's got the coaxial coming out of the dash. Anyways he quoted me $100 for a used Cobra CB refurbished ,anywhere from $25 to 40 for a decent CB antenna ,then he quoted me $250 for the installation of the antenna coaxial anyways after I added up all the numbers it came to about $400. Does that sound about right? I appreciate any information you guys could give me

If you're not in a hurry, browse craigslist for used radios. I've bought a few Cobra 29s for $30 or less and they were near mint condition.

    Sounds about right price wise.
If I was in the business I wouldn't touch a truck for less than 65 bucks an hour. Some of these installs can be kind of nightmarish and end up taking all day trying to chase down ground problems.

No it doesn't unless there is a guarantee it will work right and if it does not, they won't charge you to fix it.

The coax install should be at $150 at most. A good tech will do it in less than an hour and a half, lousy ones will take three hours.

    bored silly Thanks this.

Running the coax was about 35 minutes. It took maybe another 20 minute to pull the panels off.

Kinda depends upon how clean of an install you want. Wires and coax out floppin in the breeze for the world to see? Or tucked away and ran inside your mirror mounts? The radio will be checked out and maybe pumped a bit. Nothing special. They will / should be matching your SWRs for the set up. That stuff takes time and won't be a wham bam job. Betcha it should take a couple hours to complete IF done properly.
