Ahh I see, from what I read on here chicago has such a bad rep and the first thing I can think is 1099.
-
I could quit this job and have another just like this one within 6 minutes.I kid you not.
Texas_hwy_287 Thanks this. -
Most of them let you choose 1099 or w2.The truth is that some are better some are worse.I don't think that driving for any mega would be any better. Here I get paid what was agreed to,I am not short changed on miles, nobody can force me to do something I don't want to do (sure they will be nagging). At this point I am not being interviewed for a job,I interview them. The problem is that they all will promise you pie in the sky and you taking chances with your 2 weeks pay.So far I been paid in every place I worked but I have an issue with 2 of them charging me some questionable from my POV charges.Texas_hwy_287 Thanks this.

Would you mind sharing those hidden charges your company wants you to pay.

Does this sound fair?
.... Ummm well " NO "
this is a bad joke, right? -
Look for a better job

The charges at company I work for now are not hidden. What I have issue with is they want you to pay company tickets (my biggest issue is with my $750 bridge law ticket they took from my pay ,the ticket was written on company name not my name so I don't think.I should pay it)
They will take $150 for failed inspection (but give you $150 for passed one)
$100 for not making delivery (I am home every weekend and most often deliveries are scheduled for Monday but I don't think it's fair to require me to come to work just to make delivery I don't get paid for. They argue it's included in mileage pay).
The other one it was my first job and when I quit he took money from my pay saying that broker charged him for late delivery.True it was late but because lights in his trailer stopped working and besides I never agreed to pay any late delivery charges,I don't care what his deal with broker was).
Then he took lumpers fee saying that I gave him receipt too late. Also charged me for 2 lost load locks which I left at some warehause.Total $500.
All this was BS(except load locks),he made it up because he was mad I quit. It's not enough to take him to small claims court because as a corpo I have to have a lawyer (ridiculous, isn't it!?).
On the other hand since it was my first job I:
1.Caused an accident and damaged truck.
2.Broke 2 corners on Volvo.
3.Ripped off 1 trailer doors (just this was $250.)
He never took any money from me for that (partially because at the time of accident I was on W2.He wanted $1500 but I told him to get lost.)
So, for the peace of mind I kind of treat it as if we were even. But I still consider taking him to court whenever I remember my loss!Last edited: Nov 26, 2016
