Does Tie Down Angle Change WLL?

If you take a 10000lb WLL line and make it a 2 part line you haven't changed the WLL but you have changed the line load enabling you to pick 20000 lbs, so yes they are two different things, and I have rigged many times.

 

You are correct when using a line on a crane. Some forget or don’t even know that adding another part in line increases load capabilities, but not the WLL on direct lifting.

But you can change the WLL of a strap by using it as a “basket” too. Nylon straps as we called them, have 3 different WLL ratings listed on them...... in line / choker / basket.

I have a truck load of chokers in my shop, I will add a picture of a couple when I go out there later.
