To this very day Dohrn in Waterloo, Iowa has about a 50/50 split of newer (fairly decent) tractors...and really, really raggedy tractors (guess which one the 'new guy' gets)---and from what I've seen, horrible trailers (the better ones that LOOK like they'd pass a D.O.T. inspection are Xtra Lease trailers).
Last I knew they were offering $19.25 an hour, with no time and a half after 40 hrs. out of that terminal; and they're always hiring (or atleast advertising) drivers, dock workers, and even managers---apparently they can't hang on to ANYONE in Waterloo.
P.S.- The Waterloo cross dock facility is a joke as well.

Update: Started here the 1st week in July, was great the first 8 weeks or so. The last 3 have been a major disaster and apparently this is the new norm. Changed everything up on routes. I'm now sitting 3.5-4.5 hours a night as a linehaul driver and am over 13 hours a night and pushing my 14. To run 496 miles total. And it's summer, no way in hell this is ever gonna work as-is come winter...
A month in, we already switched terminal managers and it's been a mess. Haven't seen him in over 2 weeks, so can't talk to him about the situation. Place wants to be bigger than they really are and just can't. Half our linehaul guys out of this terminal are really unhappy with the changes and we're getting the shaft.
Looking like I'm gonna have to move if things don't change and fast. I passed on 2 pretty good gigs to take this one and am not happy about it at all. Looks like a mistake at this point...bzinger, Kyle G. and VIDEODROME Thank this. -
It bugs me when managers can't bother to be available for their employees. That is something I love about my company. The owner is super approachable, we can call him up or stop in the terminal and see him any time. He even sits right in there with the dispatchers most of the day. I wish all company owners and managers knew how important it is to have that relationship with their workers.
Hopefully things improve for you. -
