Hey rbrtwbstr, Ten dash four, not to mention a GPS is worthless when trying to get around a scale. GASP, Oh don't look so shocked. If I had a nickel every time I went around a scale, wait, maybe I do. I'd have been lost without "the road bible".
-
NOW YOU KNOW YOUR ALL WRONG EVERYONE OF YOU!.
YOUR SUPPOSE TO FOLLOW THE GPS BLINDLY AND NOT QUESTION IT!. AFTER ALL I'VE BEEN TOLD BY A MEGA FLEET DRIVER THAT THE COMPANY PUT'S GPS IN EVERY TRUCK AND THE DRIVER IS SUPPOSE TO FOLLOW IT AND NOT DEVIATE. THE COMPANY DIDN'T WANT A ROAD ATLAS IN THE TRUCK. DRIVER ADMITTED HE WOULDN'T KNOW WHAT HE WAS LOOKING AT ANYWAY.

What is this GPS device every speaks of Lol. I still don't own one, I still do a lot of by memory getting to town I need to be in. I wonder if that thing will even calibrate in a dinosaur like mine

Not to mention, years ago, the road atlas made a great "seed" cleaner
Oh, relax, that was 30 years ago!
stayinback, gpsman and rocknroll81 Thank this. -
Hi wore out, HA, if I'd have plugged that GPS in my '72 Pete, it probably would have shorted out the whole works. POOF
Hi droflex, that's true, but you talk distracted driving, I've seen many people staring at their GPS, and not looking where they are going, when a little pre-trip planning, like the old days, is all that's required. Matter of fact, that's another thing. Try and find a map at a gas station nowadays. On a recent trip to L.A., that place is so big, I had to find a map, just to get my perspective as to where I was. It took 3 gas stations before I found a map, a Shell, I believe, and they were $6 bucks, and covered with dust. Remember they used to GIVE maps away?
Yea, I'm with 'ya there. I'm old school. I resist technology as much as I can. It costs money and it breaks.
It's just that some times I end up using some piece of equipment that actually improves the way I do things or makes my job easier.
A GPS is not fool-proof of course. I learned that real quick.
I screamed at her many times telling her what an idiot she was.
A few times, it's put me in a questionable position where I had to make a decision on my own and it worked out O.K.
Usually those times when I was getting real close to the shipper or receiver, like within a few thousand feet it would say destination on the left and it was actually on the right...It would just brain fart like that some times.
Thats when I pay no attention to it. She can yap, yap, yap all she wants.
She and I still have a cordial relationship.
That being said, GPS is not for everyone. A person still needs to think."semi" retired Thanks this. -
That being said, GPS is not for everyone. A person still needs to think..... WHAT USE COMMON SENSE!. WHAT AN OUTRAGE YOU WOULD EVEN MENTION THAT.
-
Ha! I know. A lot of people now days would have to google the phrase "common sense" to see what it meant.
-
You know, those GPSs have a volume control. Why, you can even mute them, if you want.
Mudguppy Thanks this.
