Man if I woulda known we woulda knocked off early and snuck up on your back door and just eased on around looking like a pair of large cars come on. Not to hi jack the thread but I can't explain the pride I get when I'm running with my baby boy. He has sure learned how to handle a truck since I went back over the road. Seriously I'm be upset you come thru again and not tell me
Doing it old school without GPS.

Yeah, I'll let you know. It's shorter to run 67 up this way. We run to Du Quoin, IL from El Paso all the time. Rolls of copper wire going to General Wire.
Gotta love this scale ticket.![[IMG]](proxy.php?image=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.tapatalk.com%2Fd%2F14%2F05%2F02%2Febavupaj.jpg&hash=5deb74b0cede1944826b51528fbc79d0)
Rare I get it right at 34k!
That's with the rear tandems at the Tennessee setting. The guys who load these trailers seem to know what the hell they're doing. -
Shoot. With numbers like that, you'd better buy yourself a lottery ticket and pray that luck is still with you.

And the bumps in Arkansas and Missouri apparently fixed my gps. The charge light came on and it's now working.
-
Mine is kind of doing the same thing, I plug it in in my car, charge light comes on and it works, plug it in in the truck, no charge light. I just gave up on it, and now its sitting collecting dust.

The Teletracs unit looks like a regular GPS
The touch screen.

But the brains of the system are behind the scenes.
The CPU

(Say hello to my oldest daughter Jasmine, lol)
And the antenna.

The Teletracs system uses GSM/GPRS phone networks (AT&T to be exact) to download maps and directions from the Teletracs servers and to transmit the trucks coordinates. That's the beauty of the system, you never worry about updating.
Messaging is sent like an SMS/Text. You can make it easier to type by detaching the unit but in order to send the message it must be attached to the caddy.
It was developed in the UK so it has a bit of a European feel to it. -
The bumps in the right lane from the 74 yard stick where you cross the white river to end had to do it lol
-
Not gonna lie. That is a pretty interesting set up.
PackRatTDI Thanks this. -
Man ain't no way that will work in my truck. All the electrical interference will mess with my fuel pump.

The only times I feel GPS is nice: for interstate interchanges (lane assist), finding a rest stop, and finding a place to shut down as close to my chosen time period as possible. Other than that, after just one year of driving, they are utterly worthless.
If I have to run surface streets in a city, its atlas time, local directions time, and google maps time to just see what is going on with those local directions. I have the Rand McNally 510, and #### near every time I come off the freeway it becomes utterly useless.
Example:
Local directions say
take exit 77, turn right, go two blocks, right turn on street name, receiver on left.
versus GPS
Take exit 76, turn right, "oh look at that NO TRUCKS OVER 5 TONS sign" How convenient!
I am gearing up to go work in the oilfields, so I guess I'm gonna get really good at reading some local county maps. Even then I'm sure I'll be doing a lot of drawing on 'em since I'm sure all those lease roads didn't exist when the map was printed.
Bottom line, learn to read a map and get solid local directions. GPS is fine for freeway driving, hell even then mine tries to put me in the wrong lane at some interchanges due to construction. Pay attention!
