Remember when you get up and have to look in the mirror who is looking back at you ! if they haven't screwed you why would you screw them and burn that bridge and remember there is a thing called DAC out there

Absolutely right>Especially with a BIG carrier that has a revolving door. They have bodies coming in and out all the time, you're just one! At the end of the day, the moment you leave you are a forgotten entity UNLESS you had a colossal screw up and then safety remembers you forever.

They would fire your butt in a moment so why would you treat them any differently>Giving them notice only gives them the chance to jerk you over.

Another way you can do it is to book a week off and when you get to the terminal then tender your notice.

As to your wording in the title of this post, "Doing the right thing" what exactly does that mean to you whenever it comes to anything in life, including leaving Con way? Or any other company for that matter?

Are you able to do the right thing whenever no one else is there looking over your shoulder?

Or do you often solicit advice such as 'I know I shouldn't do this, but I was thinking....." in order to justify whatever it was you were thinking at the time?

In the end, YOU and only YOU (As some others have said) can make this decision. It should be based on what you, as a man, have within you when it comes to maturity, integrity and character. Not a lot of that is common in today's world regarding the easy wrong vs the hard right.

Why leave it opened for something to come back and haunt you? For all you know, you may move into the next company, spend some time there and realize the grass isn't always greener somewhere else. Kinda nice to have your options open when you have "Eligible for rehire - Yes" on your DAC, rather than something you left to chance, even if isn't with Con Way and with someone else.

Think of it this way - say, somewhere, later on down the road, if it comes down to you and just one other guy for a premium position / dream job in this business, and all else being equal, you have a "Ding" and he doesn't, and there's only ONE slot left, who do you think is going to get the nod?

Has Con Way given you the opportunity to drive for them and earn a living? One way to say thanks is by "Doing the right thing."

Doing the right thing and something YOU want to do isn't always going to be the same thing, and when it isn't, you know full well, ahead of time, where that line is when you cross it. You can either roll the dice, take your chances, or stack the deck in your favor.

Just my .02 and change FWIW. Good luck.
