Do not sweat it, you'll be fine. It is normal to be apprehensive it is what keeps us safe. Our company does FedEx and UPS loads this time of year also. CalTrans is real good about clearing Donner it is a main transportation Hub. Chaining up is just not that big of deal, and chances are you will sail right thru there, if its open do not stop in Reno, get over the Hill. Listen to ConWay they do this in a single screw tractor, You can do this,

Donner is the only mountain I have had to chain up on and back then we didn't have chains on my truck we had cables. Took hours putting them things on and got to the bottom of the hill to take them off and they lifted the chain law. Funny thing was. It was in JUNE

Back in the day Roadway used to have a pusher tractor on the hill that would help all who need it.

come on guy's if you cat cut it get out of it. For us here in western Canada chaines are a daily thing 15 min on, pull the hill and 15 off if we held out for better weather we would be weighting for spring. suck it up do your job or just stay on the valley floor till spring. and yes never let a dispather tell you to go when you think it is not safe just give him the keys and let him show you how its done, that will shut him up

weighting out a storm is OK but not for days, we are contracted to hall freight not surf the net and complane

I in no means intend to pirate this post but on a similar topic, has anyone run the Blues from La Grande to Pendleton in the snow? My load out in the morning goes over 84. Been over a lot in the summer but never in the winter.
