You obviously have been out of the business for a while. There is no Nevada gaming regulation that says dealers have to pool their tips. In fact, poker dealers are the only dealers that keep their own tips. 21,craps,roulette(all other table games) dealers generally pool tips. Either 24 hour split or by shift. Some places even do a 7 day split. And its not because of any gaming regulation. How the tips get divided is decided by management of each individual property.

Yes, I personally have been out of the business for quite some time....however I do still have very close friends in the business...Reno, Sparks, Wendover, Las Vegas, Biloxi, New Jersey....speaking of Jersey....my license number for the State of New Jersey is 000387...got that when Jersey opened, 1975.

If you will please re-read what you quoted of my post...you will see exactly what you said only in my words....excluding the 7 day split...that wasn't there back in the good ole days. If any joint would have tried that...they wouldn't have any dealers! Now read slowly and carefully....cash money cannot be removed from the table....any table...by a dealer. Neither for tip or for buy in. If the floor man, or brush is exchanging cash for a player at a table, the floor (or brush) must either bring the chips or a table marker (button) clearly showing the amount to the cameras in the sky (ceiling camera) and the exchange is recorded on video and noted in the security log of that table.

In the pit...all cash must be dropped into the box locked onto the table after the buy in has been determined. If the player is "marking in", a copy of the marker is dropped into the box (pink copy), yellow copy is kept in the marker log at the pit podium, white copy is taken directly to the cage and kept until player leaves the building or buys back the marker when the player cashes out. The Gaming Commission is very sticky about cash transactions. There is one exception to "no cash play"....high roller rooms away from the main casino floor....however the camera video surveillance is even more invasive covering these high roller rooms. The house cannot at anytime pay a winning bet with cash...must be paid with casino chip. Before you say it....the sports book can pay in cash...but that transaction is equivalent to the cashiers cage exchanging chips.

Now....back in the good ole days....we never cashed in our chip tips with the cashiers cage....we simply went and did our shopping anywhere in Northern Nevada.....the casinos had chip runners that would exchange the chips from any and every store North of Tonopah. Until the IRS decided they couldn't track the money and re-established the enforcement of "casino chips have no monetary value outside of the casino of issue".

I may be an old fart...but a gaming rule or table game is well within my memory grasp. Also....set a high roller in front of me and I will have every bit of info the house needs on him/her within an hour. some tricks of the trade, you never give up! Oh yes...I can expertly deal fourths.....wanna play some blackjack(?)....which is why you won't find many hand held BJ tables....cause dealers have been known to cheat....players only think they can mark a deck....the dealer (a good dealer) has them in his/her sights in seconds!

When I was a chap my family and I moved to Hardeeville SC. I don't know if any of you have any experience with untreated coastal well water, but it's loaded with sulfur. Tastes and smells like rotten eggs. Takes quite a while to get used to. Anyway, me and mama would go to the truckstop and fill up jugs of water out the spigot to take back home. Everytime we were up there drivers would ask mama if we needed any help. She'd always decline and explain about the ### water down there.

Almost every driver that talked to us on the way in had sodas for us when they came back out. Those guys might not have tipped their waitress but they made a small difference in our lives that day and that's what it's all about y'all. Paying it forward somehow. The guys that need to tip the shower attendant are the ones that leave the worst mess behind. The real low lifes. Not these guys. wanker. Just running off at the keyboard again.

    Wow.

I don't tip for showers as a matter of practice (hell, nobody tips ME for being early for a delivery, being clean shaven, and not smelling like a monkey butt), but I have run into a few showers where the attendant obviously went above and beyond. If there is a card saying "cleaned with care by XXXXX", I'll take it and a few bucks out and ask for that person and put the cash right in their hands. I'm not obligated, but it's so rare to see a shower cleaned that thoroughly that I like to show my appreciation.

So, if you get a good glass of milk, do you tip the cows? I hear cow tipping is BIG in Wisconsin.

It doesn't matter to me whether a person tips or not.

But to judge someone because they have a menial job is wrong. Geez, trucking is considered unskilled labor. Maybe those that say janitors should have stayed in school and got a better job should have done the same thing.

Not all truckers are slobs. But there are alot of them that are disgusting. Their habits are disgusting. Just like a lot of the showers are not clean or the employees of truck stops are rude.

That is why when I do come across a shower that is tidy and clean, I leave a dollar. If the shower person is there, I'll give it to them and tell them they do a good job. It doesn't matter that shippers or customers don't compliment me or tip me. That's not the point. It's how you treat people.....what goes around does come back around. It's called karma.

They get a tip every week, it's called a paycheck, why in the hell do some people think that you should get a tip for doing your job?? Maybe it's how people are raised, I dunno... I never expect a tip for doing my job but I was taught to do my job and do it good and not half assed... I guess some people feel that because you have a thankless job you are entitled to a tip, to each their own I guess but if you feel the need to tip everyone that's doing their job go right ahead, but don't talk down to the people that don't...

Or you could do a short sale and sell high then buy low later. :biggrin_255:

I tip the person that cuts my hair, mainly because she is a smokin' hot babe from Colombia with a rock hard body. (and no I have NO shot with her, just eye candy for about 15 min every few weeks):biggrin_25525:
