Anyone who is getting a regular paycheck (not a paycheck that is DESIGNED around tips, like wait staff) who "expects" a tip is not getting one from me. I will toss a few bucks out here and there to PERSONALLY thank someone for doing a very good job, especially with something that concerns me, like a shower. In my mind, it's more to encourage that person to continue doing a great job. I'm not going to tip anyone who leaves a shower a mess, with short and curlies all over the place. Matter of fact, I'm known to leave nasty-grams when I find showers that are just disgusting.
Perfect example... today, I was driving down 85 (in my pov) and saw a white Lincoln with a torn up drive tire on the side of the road. Two old ladies and two kids standing beside it. Too late to stop because I was going too fast. So, I turned it around, came up behind them, walked up and grabbed her jack and spare and put it on. Took me no more than 20 minutes. They insisted I take cash from them. I turned it down because it was NOT the reason I was doing it (I just couldn't leave two old ladies and two kids on the side of the road like that waiting for a tow truck).
They wanted to give me money because I went above and beyond, not because I expected it.

Totally honorable act...I always tip waitstaff and heck even the kids at sonic...the things that gets on my nerves is the waiter/waitress than stands over your shoulder while filling out the credit card receipt...every time they try to see what their tip is I always put zero...may not be right but it's a respect thing..those are the ones that feel ENTITLED...

So should I get tipped or get a bonus every time I deliver a load on time and undamaged? For simply doing my job? i am essentially doing the same thing a mailman is doing.
Are you going to tip the DOT officer when he writes you a ticket for doing his job?
I for one am one of those that when I use a shower or restroom will actually wipe the pizz drops off the toilet seat if they happen, wipe up splattered toothpaste, and rinse my whiskers out of the sink, and not leave trash and filth laying all over. The shower will still need to be cleaned, no matter what.
I despise the slow rate that most of the chain truck stops clean the showers. I understand that the P-on doing the cleaning has other tasks. When I wait for far too long for a shower to begin with, to find out as usual that the cleaning job was half-azzed, the only "tip" they're getting from me is a complaint to management.Jarhed1964 Thanks this. -
I just gave my dog a hair cut and she didn't give me no dang tip...ungrateful mutt.
And cows don't sleep standing up, horses do. -
Disgusting thing to me is when you look at the toilet seat and see that they just hit it with the mop as they were mopping the floor. That's just nasty, and it happens all over the place. No way in hell am I tipping someone for doing that.

I don't tip when I walk into the shower and there's a turd still in the toilet. It drives me nuts that I'm either paying $10-$20 for a shower (if I don't have credits) and I walk into there and see hair all over the sink, toilet and shower... along with poo particles smeared in the bowl.
Glad I brought my shower shoes. I haven't come across a single clean shower in weeks. The last one was at a TA in Albert Lea, MN.. it was super clean, so I left two bucks for the cleaning crew.
Don't get me wrong. I tip for pizza delivery and when I sit down to eat and get great service. I always tip 20% for that. Just not when I walk into a shower to see what looks like human poop in the stall. -
So now the consensus is we should pay extra for people actually doing their job?
I will never understand the concept. Do your job or lose my business. Pretty simple plan. When I have to bribe someone just to do their job I'll find a replacement. -

I started driving a wrecker on the weekends to help make ends meet and was surprised when people started handing me tips. I never thought about tipping for road service, but it's putting an extra 30-40 bucks in my pocket every week. (on top of the really low wage for driving the truck)

Some wrecker drivers can make decent cash.
Especially from O/O.Wargames Thanks this.
