Yes. If you think four-wheelers are bad on the highway, they're 10 times worse in the parking lot of a gas station.

    Lav-25 and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

I have a couple stores that, because of where the dogs are located, I have to close off the whole side of the lot to drop.
Needless to say, folks get riled up when they come around the back of the truck and see the lines of cones blocking it off...
Record number of complaints is 9...I think I can do better...

Well, if that's so, they've gotta have tanker and Hazmat endorsements, or they're lying... The wrecker don't care either way.

    Magoo1968 and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

You could paint the drop area bright yellow, put cones on top, install a flashing amber strobe light and hang reflective signs on every corner...some dummy is still going to park on your fills.
We're lucky in that we've trained the store managers to order in time for us to do the smaller and access challenged stations at night. The younger, second generation store owners seem to get it. The older store owners would wait until they were hitting the low level alarm. You'd answer the phone and all you could hear was this high pitched hysterical babble. They seemed to lose most of their English language skills when they ran out of fuel. They'd demand a priority delivery which cost them more, a lot more, and clogged up their station in the daytime...and they'd scream bloody murder about that too. I'd just lay the phone down, go on about my other business, pick up the phone once in awhile to see if they were still screaming and or if they'd had a stroke.

It's all fun and games when those calls come in...
Had one Sunday.... Dead head 110 miles, past 5 loading racks, to load a customer that had run out because of poor planning on their part, chasing a penny a gallon.
Ok... I'll do it.. . F you pay me.
That load paid double what it normally does, because it cost me a load to pull it off.
Made for a pretty decent day on my end.
We've got 1 or 2 store owners like that... Self managed(as opposed to our dispatch being able to monitor their tank levels remotely) that get angry when they are out for a couple days because we can't get to them the moment they call... And they always call last minute... 5pm Friday afternoon... Loads are already built and dispatched for the night and early morning... Might get to them Sunday, if it's lousy weather and demand slacks off to managed stores.
Otherwise, it'll be Monday or Tuesday, and they're screwed all weekend without gas to sell.

    Here's another good one...
I have a store I deliver to that, because of how busy it is and the location of the drops, I have to block a diesel pump to safely drop.
I bend the tractor to block the pump, which puts my drops right on the regular, and protects me from drivers not paying attention and trying to run me over.
Especially important when I'm dropping diesel or premium... Long hose, despite being bright orange, seems to be a magnet for stupid.
Have had a couple older guys come unglued because I blocked that pump.
I mean lose their minds, yelling and screaming at me to move, I'm a terrible driver, I don't know what I'm doing, yadda yadda yadda....
    Oh well.
I make my drop, in and out safely, everything in the right hole, and get on to the next one.
I'm waiting for one to try and block me from exiting... That location happens to be 3 minutes from a tow yard and there's a police substation one block up from it.
Be interesting to see how that rolls out...

    Lav-25, SoulScream84 and REO6205 Thank this.
