My company only runs KW's and Peterbilts. A professional drivers truck has professional features like a low beam interrupt on the left handle just by pushing forward and an button on the end of the left handle to temporarily turn on/off the marker lights. This allows us professional drivers to communicate with others easily and professionally. I also have my CB radio on at all times so i can communicate with other drivers easily and professionally.

If you flash your high beams at me I'll return the favor and flash my headache lights right back at you :). It teaches the steering wheel holders empathy.

I wear contacts, I used to wear glasses but the prescription got expensive as I kept losing them or crushing them.
Now with contacts after a day of eye fatigued from driving the bright lights hurt the browns, I just want happy friendly people dimming at me, where's the whinning on that?

Btw, when you see my high beams on, move out of the way, that means I'm hauling ##### so fast I need to keep on watch for deer heavens.. "where the legal speed permitted is 80 mph"

I usually politely dim my lights (I most of the time drive @ 60mph).. for passing trucks, after all we are professionals not a bunch of outlaws trying to piss off the general public or get our comrades in trouble from going blind for 2 seconds.
Well, unless I missed it, many times, on newer trucks the lights come on with the key, so the lights can't be shut off, so like patty sez, at least they are doing what they can. Now, what REALLY irked me, is when you shut your lights off for a passing truck, and they don't thank you. 1 flash of the other signal, or the clearance lights or even a quick 4 way. After a while, I stopped shutting my lights off all together.:biggrin_25513:
I'm not sure about the other trucks. Pete 386 is the only one I've driven with day time running lamps.

What I discovered though is that you can indeed interupt the headlamps by pushing the turn signal forward. They will stay off for 3 seconds or sooner if you release.

I recall having a eureka moment when I discovered it.

I respect you feelings as you should mine.

Maybe I came off like I rant and shake violently when someone flashes me. I honestly dont. I dont like it and it does bother me. But this is trucking... many things bother me. I dont loose sleep over it. I just carry on and do my thing.

I just wish we had a system of curtesy and respect that we could all adhere to. Maybe its just me but seems like most people driving are so closed minded in there own little world with just a narrow focus of whats 20 feet in front of them that they fail to realize what effect they have on other drivers and people around them.

In your situation I guess you'll be happy because I notice more and more drivers flashing each other. While drivers like me who either do nothing if they look like they can negotiate passing me or if they seem uncertain.. I just turn them off and back on.. I in the minority I think. Dying breed of old school respect, curtesy and pride.

I dont hold grudges. But I always have an opinion. :)

I usually break out a Pink Floyd Laser light show to let a driver know he has cleared me.
Its time consuming, but worth it.I play a full album like Dark side of the moon, then wrap
it up with a lazer light show, and some fireworks.
You guys are welcome,I put a lot of thought into each and every one of you overtaking me.
Rawk on!!
