So the "Sheriff" would have smelled burning brakes, guess he was a few miles back. Probably rode the brakes instead of shifting and stab braking to slow down.
Was wondering what that mess was. Curious if he stopped to check the "new brakes" at the top?????? there is a nice wide brake check area up there. I'm just glad the firefighters got the fire in tree's put out before it spread out of control.
If that was a newer TWT tractor and trailer it is a 95% chance it had disk brakes on it. Also never quite understood why when the tail end of a trailer catches fire especially a COLD refer that 90% of the time the truck burns down. Those fires dont spread that fast and it only take a minute at best to drop the legs and pull the pin or just pull the pin and drop it on the ground.
My hubby and I smelled his brakes before we saw the smoke. We have teamed together 8 years, hubby drove 2.5 years before that. We tried to get driver to pull over, but he would not , instead he kept ridding his brakes. We called TWT SAFETY on the driver before the flames hit. He had smoke billowing out between driver side drives and kept going. What incompetence! I am sure Rob in safety has our call to him recorded for evidence. We were there , she was not.
Fire started in between the driver side drive tires. I was next to him tring to get him to pull over. 38,000 pounds of bananas , New truck and a reefer trailer ruined. Wonder if he would have lived if we didn't call safety on him.
There was no POP! We were there. There was a ton of smoke ! The smell of hot brakes before we even crested the top made us look to see who it was.
