I'm puzzled at your continuing this line of thought. The police have admitted that the road was closed AFTER he got on it. They admit that he did not go through any barricades. And being arrested on the scene is proof of guilt? Then why do we have these protests? The police office WASN'T arrested on scene. Is that proof of innocence?

Haven't showed up for any of the current ones either, unless I can take them a tanker of gasoline or kerosene.

My question is, why didn't these same people riot back then?

 

This in my opinion is a part of the problem. We raised them. Or at least some of us here. From grownups who wear cartoons on their tshirts and watch pretty much anything on TV...who have any debt or buy stuff cuz it's cool or popular. .
You are not behaving like your parents.
Your (our) kids are not behaving like us. What's your point?
What did parents say about the tens in the 60s. In the 70s...
So they're doing their thing. That's there job. Think differently than their parents and go make a bunch of mistakes.
That is the way it works. Not an aberration.
The kids out there peacefully protesting...the kids who did occupy wall street....the ones running college groups for Republicans or anarchists or Buddhist or whatever. They're busy figuring out what the future is going to look like... and those who disparage them are the old man yelling get off my lawn.
I'd rather have a kid being a thinking participant and making stupid decisions to learn from than a mindless drone or basement dweller...
