My husband is a student driver with Werner. He just got his CDL and only 3 companies came out to "talk" to them in school. Werner showed up the most. He hasn't had any problems or issues with Werner and really likes his trainer. They did have some down time with a broken truck and spent 4 days in a hotel, but other than that.....

I just wish I knew where to tell him to work for the best pay and home time. We realize that he needs experience to get the ball rolling, but sometimes I think companies will offer you the least amount and if you don't know any better then you are stuck!

    Any suggestions?:biggrin_25511:

My advice is to tell him to stay one year & get the experience & then find something local. He needs to make sure he keeps his driving record clear also. That will help him land a local job fairly easy.

Don't apply at the companys that come to the school apply at the ones that don't. I had 5 pre-hires from good Co. I never used the school to get hired you have to do it on your own.......if you want something done write do it yourself.....I see this all the time on here....you havce a computer use it.......

IMO, shouldn't they have some clue wether they have a driver in a truck or not? Maybe all of that stuff in the truck should have raised a red flag? And if you say your gonna pay someone for throwing their property away, shouldn't you do it? If the op is to be believed, they agreed to pay 300 for his property. Ofcourse he should have got it in writing, but a company that doesn't stand by it's word isn't worth much to me. And if they really pay a 2 yr driver .27 a mile, they really, really aren't worth anything to me. And they run e-logs, right? LOL
