My goal with any inspection is to get out of there with the least amount of hassle. And we all know that officers can interpret the law differently. So when we did the vinyl on my truck he printed Operated By small in the stripe, just in case. So far nobody has said anything, but I did have OK ask for the lease agreement like they usually do.

If you are leased to a company, then yes you must have "operated by" above the company name. City and State are not required. FMCSR 390.21(b)(3)

Only if there is another name on the truck.

    Code 390.21(b)(3)

    (3) If the name of any person other than the operating carrier appears on the CMV, the name of the operating carrier must be followed by the information required by paragraphs (b)(1), and (2) of this section, and be preceded by the words “operated by.”

I swear, if I asked what time it is , some of you would tell me how to build a clock,

it so simple, two names , two extra words.

Let’s not forget some states have their own requirements also.

Oklahoma says signs must be readable from 50 feet. I only know one person that got popped for it.

Most states only require the federal minimum, but a few have their own requirements for signage.

Last time I was leased onto a company. Owner and Operated above my name and city on the door.

On tool box doors was Lease To: ABC co. Followed by required info.

I allways made thier name smaller but legal. Just to make a point on who makes the decisions.
