OK i have been following this thread a little and and i understand how the new guys are getting confused with how to do things. In the old days we had 10,15,70 and no reset now its 11,14,70 and reset after 34 off if i am reading this right. I have never run the new rules since the Iraqi Govt has no DOT in place we don't worry about dot rules just the Fire power rulle he who has the most wins. But let me see if i under stand this new rules. I start driving at 0800 in the morning i run 2 hours to a shipper back into the docks this is on line 3 driveing if i remember right. Then i go to line 2 the sleeper and stay there while he loads my trailer it takes him 3 hours to load me and now i'm ready to rock and roll so i get out of the sleeper and go back on line 3 and drive for 9 hours go back in the sleeper now it must be for 8 hours. In the old days it would have been 5 to make for 8 hrs. Now its 8 swince it has to be 1 period of 8 hours to make a split work now. SO the old 5 on 5 off rule for teams will not work any more it must be 8 and 8 now then so that would work out cool. ANy way back to the scenerio i spend 8 in the sleeper but i only get 2 hours to drive since that is where the slplit started so i drive 2 and sleep 2 and then drive 8 and sleep another 8 or a simple 10 and start my 11 over as long as i don't go over 14 in a 24 hour period if i understand it right. so after a week of this i M't and load on fri and have all weekend to get 500 miles so i set some where for 34 straight and get a fresh 70 to start the week. Man if thats right the garbage haulers on the coast are going crazy makeing money now they can do all that super trucking legal. Man if this is the right interpretation of the new rules i can't wait till we get back and me and moma start running again. we will get plenty of time off and burn a book in 5 days. what away to go don't have to worry about the 0's eating you up no more.

Look at my example that is stickied on split breaking.

I think you are on it, but you are thinking you need 2 "8" breaks, you need 1 "2" & 1 "8" hour break. Driving time works the same, you add up the driving hours in between the 8 & 2 break and subtract it from 11 and the answer is how many hours you have available to drive. The 14 resets from the end of the previous break (being the 8 or 2 which can be more than, just not less than).

The split break sheet gives you a great idea.

It is not like the old days though. Now they enter lines 3 or 4 and they have clocked in, they have 14 hours from that time to get their 11 hours of driving in. If they sit at the dock 5 hours, they now only have 9 hours available to drive. Now they take a 10 hour break (just like the 8 in old days) and they can drive again (just like in the old days).

The 14 hour rule is the only thing that has thrown in the loop for split breaking, but it is fairly easy. Check out my stickied threads and it should clear up allot!

Maybe we could hitch ol Dolly to the surrey with the fringe on top and take a little drive in the country. Bring a pic-nic basket?:biggrin_255: I know a quiet spot over between 1400 Dream Street and Happiness Avenue! Got cozy little cottage for sale over there with a little white picket fence around it, and wait till you see the parlor at night; all lit up with moon beams from above. It's a good place to forget about all them Logs, except the one that goes on the fire every now and then.

Now, if this don't make your day, well, what can I say? :biggrin_25525:

It made my day dreaming about it :). All though now a days I want a 20 foot chain link fence around my house with bullet proof glass so my child can play in the yard safely.

Well the audit is going pretty good I guess, I think he is going to try and wrap it up today. So far so good though :).

I was looking more at the team operation since thats who uses the split mostly if you went 8 and 8 instead of the old 5 and 5 you would still be good to go as far as the book was concerned and it would work out so really they did us a favor with the 34 hour reset you should be able to do the coast to coast anhd stop at the house for a week end and reset and never run out like we used to do in the old days.
