This. My buddies expired for awhile cause he didn’t know he had to keep getting a dot physical. He wanted to keep his CDL as a backup cause he went into the IT field and deployed with guard. So when he went to the dmv acouple years later they told him just go get a dot physical and they’ll upgrade back to a CDL.Rideandrepair and tscottme Thank this.

If I were still licensed and was planning to move out of the US for a while with plans to return I would have first checked out self-certifying intrastate excepted and therefore no longer need a DOT Medical card before leaving CONUS. Because I have no idea what the state of Tenn requires I can't give any advice except for maybe an emergency trip back home to fix this CF!Rideandrepair Thanks this.

print and fill this form out, it's from the Tenn.gov site.
Affidavit Self-Certification.pdf (tn.gov)
I posted this couple months ago. it's all you need to do.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
If you are somewhat near to a territory, there are some physicians on the dot roster that are oconus. I got one in Guam before. May be a shorter flight than to the mainland…

I'll be in Florida in a couple months and have an appt lined up for a physical. Won't be going to TN though, so hopefully they'll be OK with the electronic submission even though my cdl has been downgraded now for two years.

Went to a DOT physical at a small clinic in Florida last month, passed the physical, and went to the proper state website to upload the results online. TN approved the renewal the very next day. I never even had to step foot in TN! Very satisfied with how it all worked out.
dosgatos Thanks this.
