I wouldn't worry about the points, Sam. If I was you, I'd be worrying about why I ever started that POS and drove off in it. It's always your CDL, and always your responsibility. Take your lesson and move on, just be careful, don't drive anything you know isn't legal. Many companies aren't going to over-react. And don't live in fear of the CSA. #&@& those guys.

You never operate a CMV interstate or intrastate until you have did a pre-trip inspection. You check things like Fire extinguishers and permits. You make sure the plates on both the tractor and the trailer are valid. You check the tires for flats and other damage. If the trailer has a load you make sure to cat scale it or be 100% sure its legal. Way too many drivers just hop into CMVs and start burning diesel. Then they get all upset when stopped. Those 6 points the OP got will hopefully teach him the importance of checking out a CMV before operating it. In 2010 I got a lights out ticket in Missouri because of my own stupidity. It happens, just learn from it and move on.

Yeah, used to be police giving you a warning was a police officer doing you a favor. Now a warning can be a cop's way of giving you the Big BOHICA. Especially if they have an axe to grind.

Just be a complete a-hole to the cop so he upgrades it to a ticket. Then you can fight it lol.
