DOT Drug Testing.... Baffling

Not only can the use of drugs be detected, the dr. reading the test can usually tell the amount of the drug, and how frequently taken and in some cases how long ago. not to the exact time mind you but a general indication. So on your pee test they will be able to read the amount of residual in your system and see if that is consistant with your statement about when you last took it. Additionaly I am told that a blood test can be requested to verify that any drug that shows up is not currently in your system.
A perfect example, right now I have been off work since last friday night with pneumonia/back injury. I had strep wich advanced into pneumonia and then sat morning i was sitting on the couch with my daughter when I sneezed HARD and through out my back and herniated a disk. ( i have back problums to begin with)
Now, I am taking hydrocodone( for pain and coughing ) naproxine, penicillian, a muscle relaxer and a steroid. I called my safty director and asked him about this since I will be going out again Sunday. He (a former dot enforcement officer) told me about the blood test. I had specificly asked about it in case of an accident and he told me to make the testers and law enforcement know the situation and that I would need a blood test to confirm that I was not currently under the influence. I was told that is my right to request this. So if you feel uncertain request the blood test after informing them of your situation. I know I kind of rambled a bit but the old brain not firing on all cylinders right now.

P.S. I will not be taking the hydrocodone or the muscle relaxers after friday night so i wont have any hangover from the drugs on sunday, wich in my opinion is just as dangerous as taking the drugs themselves.

I will keep that in mind. My "problem" is that I want them to see precisely when I last took anything.

There is nothing hidden here and if a blood test will illustrate that than I'd be more than willing.

I recognize that there is a general taboo and pressumtion of abuse/ troublemakers that lurks behind internet posts relating to drug use. All I have is my word, my urine, my hair, and blood to prove I'm being forthcoming and honest.

Well, if they want to pluck my pubes to make a test they ought to compensate for the pain, don't'cha think??

I've got 27 years of continuous testing (documented) behind me... I sure as hell ain't gonna blow it now.

 

i'm just a little confused - the original post - not understanding why the dot isn't even tougher on testing , to - not knowing if you will even pass the current one ??

 

I should have made it 2 separate posts.

It's 2 separate issues. I will pass any drug test. It's just a matter of company policy re: prescriptions.

 

Another example I had been on Loratab for tooth problem . a week later I applied for a job I tell the doc and he says no problem bring script with you. when the tests come back he says it didn't even show! a week late I get a hair test because it was on the form and it still didn't show? Now what are they looking for?
