I worked for DOT from 2016 to 2020. Honestly they probably passed on you because they really don't like unions.

I left because after years of swearing that they would never put in driver facing cameras they installed driver facing cameras.

It wasn't due to our safety record but because of our new insurance company. They also turned the trucks down to 65 at the same time.

I was running 4,300 miles a week and making it home every weekend for my reset and a 65 mph truck killed that.

They have turned the trucks back up to 68 but you still have the driver facing cameras.

I can second the union thought. Anyone they think won’t fit in or might have certain preconceived expectations they’ll skip, in a heartbeat. They don’t want drama.

They have a mess of retired LEO’s, so that won’t be a reason.

Best group of people I’ve ever worked for, as well. I had to deal with an extended illness, which required a few years to deal with. In that time period, they had added the inward-facing cameras. I let the VP of trans know that’s why I wasn’t returning, unfortunately. She left me with an open offer to return anytime, which was very kind. And, I had made it to the final step of the hiring process and was rejected. However, a dispatcher, who was retired Air Force, went to upper management to get me hired and onto his board. He was the best dispatcher I’ve ever had, in more than 30yrs in this business.
