I've never drove a rig where it got a monetary fine, just a fix it ticket. End of story.

When I was driving my policy was DOT officers like the people in a company safety dept have a job to do. They are not your enemy but they are also not your friends. I also was stopped in Oklahoma near Atoka on US 69 back around 2000. Stupid me had failed to bring my line 4 pretrip inspection to line 3 when I left Dallas. The cop was nice has a smile on his face and I thought good maybe he won't write paper. He did an inspection report listed the violation on it but did not cite me. My point is NEVER do or say anything that may cause a DOT officer to look closer at you, your paperwork OR your truck. A good inspector can find defects on brand new trucks if you get ####y. Your goal when stopped is to see those flashing lights behind you go away ASAP!

A violation is a violation. Unless it says "No violations found" it's on your CSA.

If the ticket is issued by a non DOT/MCSAP/CVSA certified officer it is just a ticket like you say. However if an inspection report is filled out with a ticket by a Certified Cop that inspection WILL show up on your company CSA report regardless of if any violations are noted. The reason I say this is good inspections can help offset bad ones for both you and your company.

Yep, shows up on the company CSA. Never said it didn't. What I said was, my incentive was based on PARTLY having a clean inspection record. My company only hires pros, and they expect you to give them a heads up if your rig has issues. I love working for an outfit that pays you to keep your DOT inspections up to date. And, like I said, clean record.....
