It might be wrong, but its still funny....someone concentrating/winding up for the all-important golf swing and BLAAAAAAAAAAAP on the horn....

According to DOT, The tractor must have Both a working air horn City Horn. Now if whomever is doing the inspection does not ask for the city horn so be it. I know if you go through the supercoop in Iowa and get a level 1 inspection they will ask you to do both. Better safe than sorry.

If all you have to worry about is a city horn working, and there are no other problems with the truck, that is a good thing.
I do not remember ever being asked to blow my electric horn for a roadside inspection.

    Hanadarko Thanks this.

My truck failed it's DOT (dealer done) inspection. Although, the state certified shop told me flat out..."ONE HORN OR THE OTHER. Don't bother with the city horn not working".

If you drive in NYC & you blow your air-horn, you will be in violation of city ordinance. At least thats what my boss said when i went to NYC in '77. It was something to do with noise polution.

Or funerals... Half a dozen kids standing on a front lawn making the air horn gesture. Funeral in progress couple doors down. Decisions decisions, disappoint all those little kids on summer vacation. Or possibly disrupt funeral proceedings.

    I blew the horn :biggrin_255:

I use both of my horns. When someone is coming down a git-on ramp and hasn't turned to look at the road yet, they are getting close to the bottom of the ramp and slowed down to pace my right front fender, I will give a little "toot-toot" with my city horn. I can't see any good reason to be a jerk and cause an accident by giving Gramps a heart attack laying on my air horn when all I want to do is let him know I'm there. I don't use my air horn in town unless it is a dire circumstance. I don't believe some guy on a golf course while I have to work is dire.

Any inspection is as good as the one that does it. Any broken device related to driving can be written up as malfunctioning equipment by that in a bad mood DOT inspector.

I spent almost $200 getting my cityhorn working again. Expensive, considering I never use the #### thing. But, a violation is a violation.

The fault here is the horn itself. I can pick one up at a Advance Auto or something and slap it in there-
