I havent had an inspection since I started running under my own authority. Even my safety audit was over the phone with a state trooper. I have Pre Pass in my truck and two weeks ago I get a letter that says my safety score has been raised to a 99 out of 100 with 100 being the worst safety score. This means that my PrePass will give me a 100% pull in rate, so zero bypasses.
I called them and asked what the deal was because I have had no safety violations. They said its a random thing they do with the FMCSA. Having to pull into every scale will increase my chances of getting inspected. This was in effect until August 28th then my score goes back to what it was prior to the change, even if I do not get inspected. Well its the 30th and no inspection still...lol. So I guess Ill know Monday if I get scale by passes that everything is back to normal. Im sure Ill get inpsected at some point but it will have to be a random stop because I am not asking.tsavory Thanks this. -
They will inspect you. It's only time before a DOT officer gives you a level 1. He will find a reason to put you OOS. You being a one man show, this one inspection will throw you into the high risk group.
Never think your exempt from the DOT. If they want to find you they will and they can.
Make sure your equipment is up to par. -
Had not gotten inspected in almost 2 years. Got pulled into a Wisconsin scale and got a level 1. Crossed the line into Illinois and got pulled off the interstate for a random. Next day in new York got pulled of the interstate for another random. Next one was almost a year later.MJ1657 Thanks this. -
I've been at this for 5 years and i've never had an official inspection. MN has been set up a couple times and I've had to hand my log book over for a quick peek but nothing more.
I guess I'm just lucky. -
Had a lever 3 last week in Cortez CO. Passed with no problems boss gives us 100 bucks.

Passed my physical today. I had found a place in Norman ok for $85 and had last minute appointments. However my company wasn't happy with my appointment time cause they had already agreed to a load with a favorite broker. They asked if I would take the load and just go to their dr when they could work me in and they would pay the $150 and then just deduct the $85 from my paycheck. So all worked out.

I got another Inspection a week and a half ago. Few miles north of Sault Ste. Mary, Ontario. I have to say that he was the finest lawman I have had the pleasure of meeting.
Rolled into the scale the same time as a dry van going the opposite direction. The scale master was standing outside waiting. He motioned the dry van on in. Then saw me and changed his mind. Flagged the van around the bypass and me on the scale. The guy in the van was grinning ear to ear when we passed each other. Dirty *******. I stopped on the scale with him at my door smiling. Yes he was smiling. He asks how's it going. I said I should have slept in 30 more seconds. Actually got a laugh out of him. Said he would make it quick. Pull around back. Gives me a quick walk around. Go inside and go over paperwork. Laughing and talking about hunting and fishing the whole time. Offered me coffee and a doughnut. Got all done got my clean Insp sheet. Sat there for a good half hour talking farming and good fishing spots. When I finally went to leave I shook his hand. He gave me a questioning look. I told him it was a pleasure to meet a man like him.CanadianVaquero, brian991219, truckon and 2 others Thank this. -
Like some people have said or implied here, the problem can be that there are so many #### rules and regs you are pretty much garaunteed to have something that brakes one.
The question is if the inspector (a) wants to write you up for something petty and (b) even knows which regs are being broken.MJ1657 Thanks this. -
