A simple blood oxygen saturation oximeter test, worn like a wrist watch with a soft rubber tip over your index finger, for the night is a way to tell if there is potential apnea issues. You can buy one on the internet for $50 give or take a few bucks. Has a software disk you can set up on your computer to measure your readings via a usb connection. A person who stops breathing during sleep will have significant drops in their blood oxygen saturation. For obvious reasons.
Same thing happened to me. I was to fat so they gave me a 90 day temporary D.O.T; I had to lose weight or do the sleep test within 90 days or they pull my commercial license. Right before the 90 day deadline. I found a pay to pass doctor. A half ### physical and $100 cash and I got a 2 year D.O.T. Find a pay to pass doctor ask around.
They never even gave me the option of losing weight. The school has a particular office they send the students to but they said they are lenient.
Yes, go to the schools doctor. If they give you a temporary D.O.T of say 3-4 months take it. Then before it expires. Go to a pay to pass doctor and get a new 2 year D.O.T Then give it to your employer. They will have to except it. After your first D.O.T test you never have to use the company's doctor again.
What was the BMI did they give you. If i knew your height and weight I can come up with a BMI for you. It's good to be close to 19 BMI as possible anything under 25 is overweight, anything over 27 I think is obese. The neck size and so forth I consider organized medical quackery/scam to herd many into unnecessary sleep labs etc. (You will never sleep in those places)
