Not sure if this is the right area or not, but to sum everything up am I able to drive OTR with being diagnosed with osteoarthritis? I have no grip issues, and no range of motion issues. I would just hate to go for the test and get laughed out of the room. I get sore from time to time and take mobic (nsaid) which helps.

    Thanks for any insight!

    I wouldn't even mention it.
In trucking you quickly learn not to volunteer information that will destroy or derail your new career.

I know I'll have to tell them I take mobic (prescribed medication) which will then in turn have them ask me why... I am really wanting to get into trucking. Have applied to a few places with training. Just not sure what to do? Do I get a note from my doctor.

If they asked. Just tell them your Dr prescribed it for arthritis. You’ll have your prescription with you, one would hope. You don’t have to be specific about it. And it really shouldn’t be an issue.

But as Chinatown stated. Don’t volunteer any more detail than you need. State the obvious when asked. But that’s all. Don’t elaborate. It’s like being stopped for speeding and the cop ask, Do you know why I stopped you? Obviously for speeding. But you never come out and say it. That’s admissible in court lol

I will say you’re a brave individual. My doc prescribed that for me. And I spent the next 3 days in agony sitting on the toilet. My body rejected that #### like it was poison.

Yeah, I haven't had any issues with it :) Also, never been pulled over for speeding but I probably would play dumb lol. I have a completely clean driving record and criminal record (was going to be a cop in the past so wanted to keep #### clean). So, I wouldn't need a medical clearance from my doc saying anything about the arthritis?

No, not at all. Yes, you’re on prescription drugs. But your doctor prescribed it. Just tell them when you fill out your forms for your physical. They (the doctors) May ask a few questions. But Mobic is not a true narcotic. It’s simply a drug that requires a prescription.

The company you hire on with may have you perform some mobility test. That might be a problem, depending on the severity of your arthritis.

But otherwise, you’re good to go.

Just an FYI. Always declare any medication you take. Some may interact on drug test when mixed.

I’ve never heard of it happening. But I leave nothing to chance. I list EVERYTHING I’ve taken with the past 90 days. Aspirin, Tums, you name it. I list it.

It really ####s with them ;)

A few drivers that post on here didn't reveal they have RA ( Rheumatoid Arthritis) and no one found out.
Do whatever makes you feel comfortable telling the doctor.

Arthritis isn’t really something that will prevent you from getting a job. I was diagnosed years ago. I’ve always put it on my med forms. Never an issue. I have been asked if it caused any that may prevent me from doing my job. But it’s never been one.

I do know some forms will. But it will be painfully obvious to those people. They won’t need a doctor to tell them.
