I am really looking for little to no startup costs out of pocket and don't mind contracts... been unemployed for about 4 months so money is quite tight...
Chinatown Thanks this. -
Also I'd like to drive out west is possible. JP told me if I trading in Montana that I would drive out west... they told me they drive from Ohio to the west coast... where if I went to the other training facility I'd drive east coast to Colorado. Lived in the east/northeast my whole life and want to experience west coast
Chinatown Thanks this. -
Jim Palmer with training in Montana is a good choice.
I'm from the east coast too; Tennessee, but moved west to Nevada and really like it here.
I'd definitely put Jim Palmer as first choice. @c.lloyd83
If that doesn't work out, look at CFI www.cfidrive.com as second choice.Last edited: Jan 20, 2019

First, stay away from flatbeds. Primarily because you’re setting yourself up for rejection. The job is very physical and your condition will just amplify that.
Second, apply with a few of the megas. Check their websites, see what they have to offer. Each one is different. Be VERY specific with your request to be OTR.
Many companies break the country into sections. Ask where you will be sent. Ask if you’ll ever see the west.
I once made the mistake of calling Swift to ask about their “Comfort Zone” openings. They told me that mine would be Pennsylvania. #### that!!!! I didn’t lose a #### thing there.
Ask questions. CONTROL the conversation. Do not offer them squat until you’re satisfied with the answers. You may not have any experience. But don’t be a pushover. They can and will take advantage of you.c.lloyd83 Thanks this. -

There are companies that don’t require a passport. That shouldn’t be an issue really. Unless you just want to run into Canada.
It’s my understanding that Swift requires one. Based on post here this week.
West coast is a hot button issue for a lot of companies. And only getting worse. The Feds had to step in on California, because they were trying to regulate the entire country. Oregon and Washington are not far behind.
@Chinatown would be the one to provide you with a list of good training companies. I try to refrain from even mentioning mine. Simply to avoid the #### storm that would follow. And the eyes inside the wallsSnitches everywhere these days.
