Here's my question? I have been on workman's comp for over a year now. My medical card is due. Want to know since I'm not driving right now (due to no light duty at work) if I can just change my medical from having a medical card to just self certify. I've tried to get a new medical card but the doctor will not do 8th because I'm not released and my next surgery is June 17th. Please help me with this issue. Just about ready to rip my hair out. And in Texas that will drop your class A to a C and make you retake your class A.

That's a strange one and probably hasn't been addressed.
I would email the TXDOT, explain your situation and ask them directly. driver.improvement@dps.texas.gov
That's the email addy that handles the medical part.
Maybe get a letter from your doctor explaining he expects you to have a full recovery and return to work.
If not I would be talking to an attorney about your workers comp. You are permitted compensatory damages and this would be part of it.
Even talk with your employer. They should agree to take you back down and retest if necessary.Ukumfe Thanks this. -
Ended up just paying out of pocket. Hated to but gotta keep that CDL.

Make sure you or the doctor's office follows through with sending the required documents to Austin in a timely manner or you'll lose it anyway. Just getting the physical is only half of the requirement today, submitting the proper forms to the state is the other half.
