I went and they asked for the form but didn't have one. She called a place that does DOT physicals and asked if they could fax one but was told it has to be on original.

Lesson learned, take paper work with you to the physical.

Actually think I lucked out because haven't been taking care of myself like I should. I had a sleep study a year ago that couldn't be completed because I never went to sleep. Was suppose to reschedule but never did. Before the study, the guy said he thinks I may not even have Sleep Apnea. I rescheduled a sleep study today in hopes I was misdiagnosed and have a 3 month wait but it will give me time to get blood pressure in shape, stop smoking, write a business plan and have the CDL book down word for word.

I called my local VA Branch yesterday and said they could me in get in today. Just hit or miss I guess.

    About $100.00.

As said before a routine physical (PE) is similar to a DOT physical but more thorough. For example, a PE typically includes blood work, EKG, chest x-ray, hernia check and that of the prostate. The examination will include more than a vision test to include a funduscopic examination, ears, nose and throat, feeling for enlarged lympnodes, the pulses on the arms, legs and carotid artery. The examination continues all the way down to your toes.

Here's a great site to give you more information. http://www.wikihow.com/Perform-a-Thorough-but-Streamlined-Medical-Physical-Exam

What scared me determining who could perform a DOT physical also included a chiropractor. I love my chiropractor but I would not want her doing an evaluation of my health.

Think you need to check out the training chiropractors go through. You might be really amazed.

If you're getting into this industry, I'd advise getting checked out by your personal physician before getting the DOT physical, especially if you don't go to a doctor very often (which I rarely do, no reason to). I recommend this even if you think you're in good health, like I thought I was. I got surprised with having my bp taken 5 different times (each reading was too high) when I went for my DOT physical. Turned out I had high blood pressure and had to get it medicated before getting a medical card. I only qualified for a 3 month card that time. Got the bp under control, went back and now I'm good for a year.

A bit harder now, but not long ago I would walk in and the Doc would hold up 3 fingers and ask how many?

    I answered 3, its always 3..

He said, you walked in, you can see, hear, memory is good, Sheila will have your card in a few minutes, that'll be 50 bucks, see ya in a couple years. :D

that's what I anticipated at the first physical. By the time they took the third reading ...I was thinking :biggrin_2554:
