When you get a DOT Medical you should get a copy of the doctors result, called the "Long Form" and it is what every body want a copy of, you do not let schools or companies keep it, they can copy it but you keep it. Should be about 4 pages of stuff, Blood Pressure, vision, weight, etc...
Google DOT Medical Long Form -
No. Regulations are regulations. Minimum requirements are the same for blood pressure, sugar (diabetes), hearing and sight. I you don't meet the minimum requirements you don't get the card unless you can get a waiver. At their discretion, an examiner can provide that you be retested within that time period to ensure whatever the problem is, was corrected, you would then be issued usually a 6 month medical. It can be as simple as you showing up with a letter from your personal doctor stating the particular thing has never been a problem in the past stating X number of years they've seen you, to a total retest.

Do they take a blood sample ? -
I don't think they do a blood draw. Too many legal ramifications, probably.dennisroc Thanks this.

No not normally, they never have on my DOT physical's. Urine is what required, not hair or blood. Anything more than urine is a companies requirement not DOT.dennisroc Thanks this.
