Like was said earlier we don't nee you driving an 80,000 lb device of destruction ! we would prefer that you get completely clean before you change professions. I know the facts about pot too I was 17 once. but this is not the time to do this if you are worried about failing a drug test.

No truer words have been spoken. You can't be safe on the road when you are half-dead, needing caffeine fixes, smoking, not getting enough fluids, or sleep.

It will most likely show up on a hair test but you should be ok with a urine test. Not many companies do hair follicle tests because it is a lot more expensive.

Lots of ignorance in this thread...unless he's high while driving, it will have NO impact on his performance.
This is actually one of the things that's bugging me about this field.
It's none of my employer's or the government's business what we do on our free time.

Right, because pot has never been linked to long term diminished capacity, right? If you can't leave illegal drugs alone, go go work somewhere else, where lives aren't at stake.

exactly. It's never been linked to long term diminished capacity.
the part about leaving illegal drugs alone, though...hmm...
How about we just make it legal...would that make it "more safe" to you?

Nope, same as alcohol. Leads to long term diminished capacity. Alcoholics need to be permanently parked as well.

At the risk of drumming up an old argument and getting flamed by those who smoke and drink, we can add cigarettes to that list as the smoke causes diminished lung capacity as well as diminished oxygen capacity to the brain and bloodstream in addition to heart disease, lung disease, emphysema, cancer, higher blood pressure, Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and more. For good measure we can toss in obesity since more people now die from obesity than alcohol.

There's a mental picture for ya. "Your honor, the plaintiff will prove that the cause of the accident was the drivers fat little fingers"

LOL! Well, it's just as valid as saying someone who drinks or smokes on their days off is a danger when they're sober and behind the wheel. I've seen morbidly obese drivers look like they're gonna have a heart attack wheezing and sweating and out of breath just from climbing in the cab but I admit, that is changing as companies crack down on physicals. The sleep apnea thing comes to mind right off the bat. I have to wonder though, how in the world some of these HUGE drivers pass their physicals?
