What you are talking about is driving while under the influence
What *I'm* talking about, is people getting screwed over for smoking during their free time, when they're days/weeks/months away from getting behind the wheel.

We are saying, if you do it at all, STAY OUT OF TRUCKING!!!!!! I dont care if its your free time or not. We dont need your drug addled brain making decisions that could potentially destroy other peoples lives!!!!!mje and T...Street Thank this.

And that's why I referred to you as "Ignorant" in my first post. Smoking every once in a while doesn't make you "Drug addled bad-decision-making-bum, who speaks/thinks like "huur DUR" If you haven't smoked in days, there is NO EFFECT on you. You're only an idiot WHILE you are on the drug...
The only reason that I agree that smokers shouldn't be in the profession, is because of the testingScaredanuthin and RodeoMoon Thank this. -
ok, so lets put it like this. OTR trucking, when do you have free time ?? Once a month, once every 5-6 weeks ?? So when ya gonna smoke ??? Sittin at the truck stop?? How do you know when its wore off completely ?? I can assure you one thing, if me or anyone i care about were to ever get hurt by some pothead, and i found out, its gonna be a bad day fr that loser when i get my hands on them. I'm ignorant ?? No, sorry. I am a professional, I know the correct steps to tke to remain professional. One of them is not doing drugs, because its illegal. Meaning wrong, as in not right. Meaning, if you cant do something that simple, stay at home and work elsewhere
T...Street and mje Thank this. -
MikeakaSyndrome, skip it man...he has his way of looking at the profession and we have ours...only thing is *He* is on the outside looking in...thank GOD!!!!!
KMac Thanks this. -

I view the desire for weed a young persons need and they being younger are in much better shape to handle it than us older folks who no longer have the strong desire to partake in it. So there isn't much sense in people of broadly ranging age brackets thinking they might come to a mutual decision on this topic. The law is the law and the law rules all. I'm just wondering when they'll start their testing for a caffeine or sugar buzz and why not nicotine too.
RodeoMoon and Scaredanuthin Thank this. -
Now, I'm on record stating no driver should be on the road while partaking ANY mind altering substance. That being said, take the word "pot" out of your paragraph and replace it with alcohol and the hypocrisy of the law is crystal clear as is your position. You can't have it both ways. You're either against drivers taking mind altering substances or you're not. Just because one is legal doesn't make it any better or right. It's a flaw in the law and it's recognized in your logic saying a driver may partake after a rough day and by your implication one may begin to use it more frequently. The same is every bit as valid for alcohol which is a drug (depressant). This is why I chose my words very carefully and used the term "substance" and not drug.

Agree. 100 percent.dirtyjerz and Scaredanuthin Thank this.

Ahh, a voice of reason is like a breath of fresh air in this thread. Thank you for recognizing alcohol should be viewed, at the very least, in the manner pot is in regard to legalities. Outlaw booze and you'll save 2.5 million lives per year. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/02/11/alcohol-related-deaths-_n_821900.htmlScaredanuthin Thanks this.
