All the states are different but many it's illegal over 6" blade or a type of Bowie knife.

Now.....Pull over any RV with grandpaw and grandmaw driving around and you will find.

    8" kitchen knife. Possible a meat cleaver.....Illegal
Pretty much a fully stocked bar with all the bottles that have already been opened....Illegal
Grandmaw has a plastic pill case marked S M T W T F S full of pills and not marking as to what they are...Illegal

Correct me if I am wrong but I am not aware of any DOT regulations regarding weapons of any kind. Your employer, shipper, receiver, etc may have policies that you should abide by when driving their truck or on their premises but as far I I know when DOT regulated the same laws apply to you regarding guns, knives, etc as they do to joe blow in a car. I know I always have a gun and a knife and the DOT knows it when they ask for my DL I hand them my CHL and they have never said anything about it.

I always have a knife attached to me. If LEO were to ever ask me about it i will just say it is for work. Im not really lying i use it all the time at work, but thats not why i carry it.

You have to be compliant with the laws of whatever State you happen to be in. A good friend of mine spent two days in Jail about two weeks ago and now faces a felony weapons charge in Michigan because he had a set of throwing knives in the bunk. They are double bladed and that apparently is illegal in Michigan.

When they asked if he had any weapons he td them about those and that was when he learned they are illegal.

Be careful out there. I have a 3" lock blade and never had any issues.

Well, like they say a knife is a tool. Cops know truckers are vulnerable and carry pipes, knives, guns, tire knockers, wasp spray etc.I mean you have to cut plastic straps, boxes etc.Personally never had a DOT inspection where they wanted to search thru a bag of my dirty underwear! I dont know about you, but,I'm not going out like some punk.I say "screw company policy". I advise all truckers to carry some "tools". And get a CCW for every state you can. If you cant get a CCW license say New Jersey. Unload your pistol, locked box. And load it up when you get to the truck stop.Basically if you keep your pie hole shut, nobody will know what you're carrying. Usually if its a "serious shipper" I will check my tools at the guard shack, leave it there. Most never ransack the truck anyway. Just put the sign there to have the authority.I have only been physically patted down, not at Levenworth prison delivering, but at an airport. Only because Oba.. was there!

This is only if you're concealing it. If you carry it visble on your hip, there is no such law that I've ever heard of (except maybe in commi-fornia, or other ultra-liberal countries-states)

Yeah, but you're a 2-female team operation, correct?

I'm sure the friendly officers wouldn't EVER have any ulterior motives! :D

Ok. This guys job is to find something wrong, end of story. His life, career, and promotion are based on finding something wrong. Just run across the right one and you'll see. There not your friend even if they do talk nice to you. It might be legal, but it will be treated as dangerous and suspicious.
