Are the overhang regulations different for a split load?

I didn’t read the links provided so may be speaking out of school, but some states have different rules for overhang on divisible loads.

My suggestion to the OP is to read and become familiar with the rules where you run so that you are informed and don’t have to rely on what a forklift operator tells you.

In Tennessee you’re allowed up to a 45’ straight truck, I would assume that includes the overhang.

Tennessee also has one of the most unique way of measuring trailers to determine of they are over length or not. 50’ kingpin to rear of trailer or load. Anything over that requires a permit. Technically most of our 53’ flats are over length because they have a 30” kingpin depth. They only seem to enforce it on lowboys/RGN’s though.

Yep, we have to buy a TN annual to cover over-length on our 55 ton lowboy.
