I have never had that happen to me.
You guys that are saying you have no hours so you can't inspect me don't understand HOS. You have 11 hours to drive in a 14 hour period. You can be on duty 24/7 if you wish. You may not drive if you are over the 11/14, but you may work.
If he wants to inspect, your going to be inspected.

Only time I've seen dot in a rest area was in flagstaff where they pulled trucks into it to inspect but not inspect the ones already in there -
I've had a DOT cop come to my rolled down window at a small truck stop and said he was going to do an inspection. I said I was on Sleeper time. He just looked at me pissed and walked away. This was the second time that happened. It's up to you to say no. If you submit to an inspection your back on duty not driving.

If you have to sleep there. Park at the far end of the facility. Only time you would want to park close to the facility is if the load requires security, then you would need to go inside and alert them of your load and why you parked so closely.

(k)(2) The driver shall retain a copy of each record of duty status for the previous 7 consecutive days which shall be in his/her possession and available for inspection while on duty.
