Floating damages your differential? I've been warned once today, so I'm not gonna say it.

I can tell you this much in 32 years of trucking I have never had a transmission damaged in any way because I float the gears!!

I have only replaced one clutch in a truck of mine and it was a used truck that I had bought .

So while damage CAN happen it does not mean that damage WILL happen .

I have seen more trucks in the shop for transmission related problems that were driven by double clutching rookies than i have from gear floating old farts .......

How could there even be an argument here? Isn't the clutch only used to assist in matching rotational speeds between the engine and transmission, providing for a smooth gear change? If you can reach the same goal without assistance, then why not?

Left pedal is for starting and stopping, right pedal is for everything else.

I do both, myself. Floating because it's fun and double when my transmission fights me! I actually just learned that my jeep wrangler floats too. Kinda cool

The only way an adjuster is going to seize is if you dont use it for months.. Guess what!!!? Your gonna use to stop and accelerate.. So that will NOT happen. Stop trippin, if u wanna double clutch, fine, if u can learn to float, float.. It may save u a knee, or hip replacement 30 years down the road. Lol

Floating is the best way to drive overall, provided you know how to do it. It's all in the timing and feel. You should never have to push hard on the stick. You need to know how to use the throttle. I just lightly lean on the next gear (NO GRINDING) and when the transmission syncs it will just fall in.
