one of the ways to practice is to get a plunger, and a cardboard box. cut the 6 slot pattern in the box and slide it over the plunger. sit on the toilet, or i na chair if you want lol im serious. i have heard of many people doing this for practice. remember clutch neutral clutch gear. left right left right. left being the clutch, right being the shifter.

I wouldn't sweat it, if you are only on the second day.

I would add to this use a roll of toilet paper to simulate a clutch. Remember you only want to tap the clutcb, if yqyou go to the floor you will engage the clutch brake and never get it in gear. Practice with thwle toilet paper roll makinf sure that you so not collapse the center tube. It should bens but the inside of it should never meet.

It's easier without using the clutch. I'd be lost if I was required to double clutch. Don't worry, there's plenty of "seasoned veterans" who can't shift. One of these days I'll take a video of all the drivers as they attempt to grab gears as they try to accelerate in a pissed off fashion after I drive VERY slowly thru a construction zone and duck behind the cones. It's HILARIOUS.

I agree floating is much easier, but the schools mostly teach the good old clutch neutral clutch gear song. I can't be certain, but I think most DMV's prefer it for their tests too.

Try it with the truck off, brake on (of course) Just sit there and practice until it feels comfortable. I was a CDL instructor at 2 schools, I 'd take a couple weeks teaching them how to shift with a clutch, then they'd get their license, and then I'd have to teach them how to shift without the clutch....go figure.

Thanks again guys, but as of right now if I want to pass and get my CDL I have to double clutch. As far as the trans goes its a 10 speed.

I am curious tho should the shifters be tight and hard to move? I was messing around in my buddy truck and his felt pretty #### lose, but it could have been because the truck was off and brakes on...

It should be the same except it my go in some gears but not others. Just pretend it goes in. The goal is muscle memory.
