Double Clutching

    I almost had to laugh. I too would double clutch whenever I was in a hurry. It was easier.

    Now, I can float,em and drag race fully loaded.

    There's a reason for that 3rd pedal. Use it. Floating is easy. Using the clutch is the way I was taught. Takes the shock out of the system , and if you are heavy , or in an off-road situation it makes shifting safer and most times with no jerking or grinding. But to each his own.

    Well put. Yes, there's a big difference between "floating" and "abusing." When driving in some conditions the terrain and the load work against floating gears, and using the clutch properly is what is called for. I hardly use the clutch when I go to town, but moving machinery on hills and log loads out of the woods, I double clutch. If it's popping, jerking or grinding how can you call it floating?

    To the OP--IMHO--do which ever you are most comfortable with--the ONLY thing you need to be concerned with--is taking care of your equipment--and smooth shifting(either up or down0will insure that--so just relax and find what your most comfortable with.....
