It is device the DPS/DMV expects you to be able to use....or not depending on who the examiner is or expects it.

    I float, therefore I cheat.

Well, I've just finished my training and I will start working on Monday on a 600km roundtrip... During the training, I have to double clutch from 1st all the way up. Yea I can do all that.

I am not "suppose" to or not "allowed" to shift during a turn, I have to stay in a gear and turn on just that gear.. Driving a 10 speed at most I can get up to 3rd or 4th on a right turn, and 5th on a left turn... If you see a set of doubles turning like a turtle in the industrial area in Concord last week in Ontario, that's me training or taking my road test and exams...

However, once I ask my instructor now my supervisor a question - Why do the other guys able to start and accelerate so fast. My instructor said - Most truckers start from the 2nd gear, but you are suppose to start on 1st... Then I've seen him shifted gears during a turn before, which I am totally capable of doing...

OK, what should I do during my real job? He's been sending me mix messages, start at 1st or 2nd? Can I shift during a turn? To make things more complicated, our tractor has one of those computer thing for the log and stuff, when driving, it shows your rpm and speed at all times, and they can obviously see and look my rpm and speed at all times.

I am kind of confused, I think I'll still start on 1st, cuz they can see my rpm and they can obviously tell if I've skip that gear. On a turn? I don't know if they have a tracking system in the truck that I don't know of, maybe they'll know that I am turing as well, and if at the same time I am not going through a corner with consistance rpm they can always get back at me and say that I am shifting while I am turing...

What should I do guys? Any inputs? I've seen so many impatient 4 wheelers hating me, and I am sure I am raising a few eyebows of the other truckers too. But what can I do, that's what I am suppose to do according to my supervisor...

When it comes to gas pedal while double clutching, do you stay on gas but just give it a little more to get RPM's up when up shifting etc?

The short answer is: Let up on the pedal when clutching then get back on it to build RPM's before clutching again. This is the area of shifting that requires the most finesse.

And refer to the pedal as the Throttle. Or if you must, a diesel pedal... (lol. no really, just call it the throttle).
